From Adversity to Triumph: Natascha Badmann's Unconventional Journey to Ironman Legend
Natascha Badmann is and remains a phenomenon. Her development from an unhappy little chubby to a smiling serial winner in Kona is legendary. No one manages to turn exertion into happiness like she does. Six times at Ironman Hawaii, she turned her deficit to the fastest swimmers on the bike course into a lead big enough to run home the victory over the marathon course. At an age when almost all other top triathletes are enjoying retirement, Natasha was fighting her way back from a serious injury - her shoulders were so thoroughly shattered that doctors gave her no chance of further competitive racing. But because she always liked to show her teeth, she gritted her teeth this time too and returned to Kona. Eighteen times she started for the professional race in Hawaii, the last time she reached the finish line at the age of almost fifty. So what's next? That's right, more triathlon. On select occasions, she plans to continue to indulge in the pleasure of swimming 3.8km, biking 180km and running 42km. As always with a smile on her face.
